These days, big data is, well... big. The ability to aggregate and analyze vast amounts of consumer data is changing the nature of business. And that's great. However, sometimes we forget there are people behind the data points. Real human beings. An individual with her own hopes, dreams and aspirations (and maybe a cat or two). We are experts at understanding people. We go through the same rigor when developing and articulating a brand's customer or prospect that filmmakers go through when creating an enthralling character. It’s not enough to know who that person is but why the are the way they are – and how they navigate through the movie that is their life. Using big data can help brands understand how people behaved in the past, but understanding an individual's core motivations can help brands understand how she might behave in the future.
